Corpus Christi -

Art Museum of South Texas Located at 1902 North Shoreline, the Art Museum of South Texas was designed by internationally renowned architect Philip Johnson. Completed in 1972, the Museum serves as the cultural center for fine art in Corpus Christi.

Consisting of three levels, approximately 12,000 of the building’s 30,000 square feet belong to galleries. The lowest level, located at sea level, contains classrooms, studios, a library, and storage and work areas. The next level, the main entrance, faces the Bayfront Arts and Science Park and is equipped with galleries, a gift shop, an auditorium, and interactive kids’ playroom. A 60-foot catwalk runs above the main level, and leads to a sky-lit gallery on the 3rd level. Constructed entirely out of white concrete and plaster, the Museum seems to radiate with the strong South Texas heat and light.

This was the purpose, as stated by Philip Johnson: “Light is the essence, and light coming in from all sides is especially bathing and soothing.” The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a spectacular view of Corpus Christi Bay as well as the Harbor Bridge.

These wonderful museums are a perfect DAY adventure … ENJOY!!!

Did you know

that if you rent a car and use your  debit card  that many rental car companies will run a  credit check¦.

YUP¦. not paying with a credit card sends that little  red flag  that maybe you could be a credit risk

and maybe should not be trusted with a 25,000 + car/truck.

 And of course¦

that credit check will show up on your credit score as an inquiry

and IF you are in the process of relocating or buying a home¦

could affect your credit and drop your FICO to up to 14 points.

Avoid using your debit card and

USE A CREDIT CARD  instead¦.

If you must use a debit card¦

call head and check with the car rental agencies to see if their policy is to run a credit check    ¦.

avoid using the agency if they do.

The objectives of the program are to:

A.  Identify and select highly motivated, emerging leaders to participate in the program.

B.  Systematically inform, challenge and otherwise educate the participants regarding the opportunities and needs of the community, as well as the dynamics of social and economic change.

C.  Counsel the participants on management and leadership skills, and encourage them to volunteer for community leadership positions.

D.  Develop the interpersonal relationships and camaraderie among the participants, which will enable them to work together in community leadership positions.

E.  Create dialogue and rapport among the participants and the existing community leadership.

F.  Identify organizational and individual opportunities for community involvement and assist the placement of participants in those positions.

The program is carried out in a series of sessions whose content, frequency and schedule are determined annually by the Steering Committee. Its goal is to identify emerging leaders, expand their knowledge of the community and encourage them to take active, individual responsibility for participation in and leadership of the future of Aransas County.

Leadership is an experience for people like you who want to make the Aransas County an even better community. The Leadership Program strengthens individuals for personal, organization and community leadership. Participants of the leadership program will benefit from hands on leadership practice with other existing and emerging leaders.

Supported by alumni mentors, local leaders and an award winning 5-Star staff, you will explore and apply best practices to build your team building, conflict resolution, public speaking, and leadership skills.

Leadership Aransas County Mission Statement ” There is probably no greater statement of faith in, and concern for a community than to bring together some of the best talent and encourage them to learn, to question and to dream.   But the return of investment is also great – a cadre of citizens who care about the community, who know its strengths and weaknesses, and who are willing to make their own investment to improve the general quality of life “
